Central Oregon Community College wants to prequalify prime contractors for the construction of the Science Building at its Awbrey Butte campus in Bend. The building will be approximately 46,000 square feet and will house biology, chemistry, physics and geology teaching spaces.

All contractors that plan to bid for the project must fill out and submit a prequalification application. The college will use the information provided on the application to determine whether the prospective contractor has the necessary experience and is capable of performing the work.

The bid is expected to go out in January 2011. The contract is estimated to be between $16 million and $17.5 million.
