The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit program controls water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants into U.S. waters. The city of Amity operates a wastewater treatment plant that does not meet the requirements of its NPDES permit. In 1998, a wastewater master plan identified capital improvement projects to bring Amity’s system into compliance.

The city is seeking a professional engineering consultant to prepare final design plans and specifications, provide construction observation services to implement upgrades to the wastewater system, and address new compliance regulations.

The entire project consists of replacement/installation of a new tertiary treatment facility, upgrades/expansion to the chlorine facility, installation of a new headworks to include a new lift station, screening and sampling equipment, upgrades to the winter and summer effluent disposal systems, and miscellaneous capacity improvements.

Work under this contract will be paid for in part with money from the Oregon Community Development Block Grant, an award from the Water Fund and state lottery money. The project will be administered by the Oregon Business Development Department.
