Electric vehicle charging stations being installed around Oregon will soon be manufactured in Oregon as well.

The Eaton Corporation will use an 80,000-square-foot facility it operates in to manufacture quick-charging stations for , according to Mark Ottenad, public and government affairs director for the city of Wilsonville.

Using technology from a company based in Japan, Eaton plans to ramp up its Wilsonville facility during the next 18 months to produce all components for its quick-charging stations, which can charge a vehicle in 15 to 30 minutes, Ottenad said. Eaton employs 85 people in Wilsonville.

“Wilsonville is now on the map as a component of the emerging green economy,” Ottenad said. “(Eaton) doesn’t anticipate any initial increase in employment, but it may over time.”
