The two-lane Sellwood Bridge is 85 years old. The reinforced concrete-deck girder approach spans and the concrete deck over the steel truss have deteriorated. The bridge has a two-point rating on a 100-point scale for structural sufficiency. Multnomah County has performed a physical inspection, structural analysis and repair alternative analysis on the existing bridge.

Multnomah County is seeking one professional contractor to provide engineering consultant services for the complete final design and construction assistance engineering for the Sellwood Bridge project. The selected proposer will perform project work relating to phases three and four. Phase three consists of completing the final design and issuing final plans, specifications, schedule and estimate. Phase four will consist of providing construction engineering assistance during the replacement construction project.

The contract is anticipated to be effective by Jan. 1, 2011, and the contractor’s period of performance is expected to last approximately eight years.
