Fire Station 12, constructed in 1973, is a 7,400-square-foot, one-story timber structure in Albany. The middle of the building has a narrow, two-story section; a hose tower is at its south end.

The city wants to enter into a professional services agreement with a qualified consultant to provide engineering services for seismic rehabilitation of the structure. The consultant must be able to demonstrate established experience in the development and implementation of seismic upgrades. Primary components of the project include structural and nonstructural seismic upgrades to correct building deficiencies. An Oregon Emergency Management grant is supplementing the city’s financial contributions.

Phase 1 of the project is the consultant selection process; notice of intent to award is scheduled for Dec. 15. Phase 2 will consist of the selection of a contractor to be awarded the project by April 2011. Phase 3 will consist of construction, which is scheduled to occur from May 2011 through May 2012.
