The Clackamas River Water Providers, a coalition of the municipal water providers on the Clackamas River, was formed in 2007. The organization includes representatives from the city of Estacada, the city of Lake Oswego, Clackamas River Water, the North Clackamas County Water Commission, the South Fork Water Board and the Sunrise Water Authority. The organization’s purpose is to fund and coordinate efforts to protect and conserve source water.

The CRWP recently completed development of a Drinking Water Protection Plan for the Clackamas River watershed. This plan serves as a road map of potential strategies and programs to be implemented over the next decade to preserve the Clackamas River as a high quality drinking water source and to minimize future water treatment costs.

One of the first steps in implementation of the plan is to develop a geographic information system geo-database as a storage mechanism for GIS drinking water risk layers as well as GIS analysis of these risks.

The general scope of work will be to design a geo-database containing Arc Hydro formal hydrography, terrain, and county-sourced cadastre, roads and base data layers covering the Clackamas River watershed. The chosen contractor will also need to determine how the GIS geo-database development will integrate with water quality monitoring and pollution loading modeling work identified in the Drinking Water Protection Plan.

This project has two phases and will be completed over two fiscal years. Phase one shall be completed by June 30, 2011 and phase two shall be completed by June 20, 2012.
