The Oregon DEQ/PHL Laboratories are the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Oregon State Public Health (PHL) laboratories located in a single building in Hillsboro. Built at a cost of $35 million, the laboratories cover 86,000 square feet on a two-acre site. DEQ’s lab is an all-hazards facility used primarily for testing air and water samples from around the state. The Public Health lab operates a biosafety level 3 lab on site and tests and investigates infectious diseases.

This project consists of modifications to the Mass Spec room to provide additional room cooling to meet the requirements of six mass spec analyzers. Two new split cooling systems will be added with two DX fan coil units installed in the adjacent storage room and the respective condensing units installed on the roof. Associated supply and return air ducting will be installed between the Mass Spec room and the fan coil units.

The project is estimated to be $95,000 – $105,000 and will be completed by April 29, 2011.
