Bid Date/Time: Dec. 21, 1 p.m.

Salem-Keizer Public Schools is requesting proposals for engineering services to evaluate existing conditions at West Salem High School and for design services. The seven-year-old building was designed to operate at a high level of energy efficiency. Glitches in the HVAC system and possibly in the HVAC controls systems were identified as responsible for the building failing to achieve the efficiency goal. Deficient components need multiple repairs and the system needs a thorough 鈥渞etro-commissioning.鈥

The school is approximately 250,000 square feet. The HVAC system is a mixture of rooftop units with hot water heat and direct expansion mechanical cooling serving the auditorium; custom air handlers with heat recovery and direct evaporative cooling with hot water heat serving classrooms and associated spaces; an air handler system serving mostly single-duct VAV terminal devices with hot water reheat coils; and air handlers with heat recovery and heat for gyms and locker areas. The central boiler system is made up of four high-efficiency, condensing, gas-fired furnaces.

If needed, interviews will be conducted Jan. 3-7, and the project will be awarded on or around Jan. 10.
