Applicants for the latest round of funding under the program will have to wait until next year to find out if their applications were successful.

The Oregon Department of Energy announced today that due to the volume and complexity of proposals received under the second round of Tier 2 BETC funding for renewable energy projects, winning applications won’t be announced until after Jan. 1, 2011. Applications for this $10 million round of financing have been accepted since Oct. 1, and applicants were to be notified this December about the status of their applications.

BETC provides financial assistance through the Oregon Department of Energy to those investing in energy conservation, recycling, renewable energy resources and less polluting fuels. The Oregon Legislature in early 2010 capped the amount of tax credits available to renewable energy projects at $300 million for the foreseeable future after the state found it was spending too much money on the tax credits. Advocates of the renewable energy tax credit program will lobby for a two-year extension of funding for the program during the 2011 Legislature.
