Bid Date/Time: Jan. 18, 2011, 3 p.m.
Approximately 17,000 people live in Sherwood, a family-oriented community with an active arts and community theater group. Several years ago the city purchased the 13,000-square-foot machine works building with the intent of retrofitting it to become a cultural arts community center.
Last spring, a steering committee was formed to make recommendations on the best use for the building. To date, the committee has studied three different conceptual plans and has determined that the best use for the building is to use 78 percent of it as public space and 22 percent as retail space to help offset operations costs.
The city of Sherwood is seeking a firm to develop a business plan for the community center and to provide, at a minimum: operational assumptions based on previous or updated needs assessment, market analysis and stakeholder interviews; recommendations for user fees and possible programs; development of a one-year operational pro-forma; and recommendations for additional revenue-generating uses of the facility.
Interviews, selection and negotiations will take place Jan. 24 through Feb. 4, 2011. The desired completion date is March 2011.
