The Port of Vancouver U.S.A. is in the process of developing property at Terminal 5, and it is necessary to evaluate potential noise impacts to surrounding properties from proposed industrial and commercial activities. The port is seeking a qualified sound/acoustical consultant to evaluate sources of noise, potential impacts and measures to abate those impacts.
Scope of services include: identification of sources and magnitude of noise from proposed industrial and commercial activities at the site; identification of sensitive receptors in the vicinity and thresholds for increased noise at these locations; preparation of a computer model for sound generation from proposed development; assistance to the port engineering team in identification of proper geometry of sound walls at the perimeter of development area; identification of the best practices for noise abatement; and preparation of recommendations in this regard.
Proposals will be evaluated and interviews (if necessary) will be conducted the week of Jan. 3. The apparent successful consultant also will be announced that week.
