The city of Vale is seeking the assistance of a licensed Oregon architect for the design and construction of a new senior center on Longfellow Street, between A and B streets. The architect will consult with the city and the Vale Senior Citizen Center Inc. building committee in order to design an energy efficient building.
At a minimum, the facility will include men’s and women’s restrooms, a meeting and dance space, a kitchen, a lobby and an adjoining reading area, a recreation room, a conference room, office space and a covered entrance. The project will feature ADA accessibility, natural lighting and solar gain.
This project is being funded through a mixture of public and private funding sources, including $1 million from the Oregon Community Development Block Grant program and $80,000 from Vale Senior Citizen Center Inc. The total project budget is $1.08 million.
Contract negotiations with the top-ranked firm are estimated to begin Jan. 20. Project completion is anticipated for January 2013.
