Washington State Ferries operates the largest ferry system in the United States, serving eight counties in Washington and British Columbia, Canada. The ferries carry millions of vehicles and passengers annually, and marine vessel maintenance is the highest priority for the Washington State Department of Transportation ferries division.

This project consists of work to the super-class marine vessel Yakima. It is 382 feet, 2 inches by 73 feet, 2 inches, and can carry 144 vehicles and 2,500 passengers. Work consists of the following repairs: dry-dock the vessel for U.S. Coast Guard credit dry-docking; sea valve inspection; zinc renewal; rudder and propeller inspections; preparation and painting below waterline; shaft seal replacement; preparation and painting of port and starboard curtain plates; preparation and painting of lower passenger deck exterior; bilge painting; and other related maintenance work.

Bidders must be prequalified in class 82 work: “vessel dry-docking and hull repairs.” All work must be performed within Puget Sound from March 14 through April 29.
