Bid Date/Time: March 22, 2 p.m.
The Jackson County School District is accepting bids for construction of a new elementary school. It will be approximately 54,000 square feet and provide a modern replacement for Little Butte Elementary School, which suffers from overcrowding and high operating costs.
Work consists of construction of approximately 24 classrooms, a 5,800-square-foot mechanical mezzanine space, and shared spaces with skylights. The building is slab-on-grade, type V-B wood-framed construction with composition shingle roofing, metal and masonry veneer siding. Site preparation for the new school is under way; the rock pad for the new building is scheduled to be in place by late March.
The school district is paying for the project with $12 million in insurances proceeds from a fire at Eagle Point Junior High eight years ago. The scheduled move-in date is winter/spring 2012.
