ACE Academy completes learning experiments

Visitors never know what they will find when they walk through the door at ACE Academy, a Portland charter school for students interested in careers in architecture, engineering and construction. On a recent Thursday, students were engaged in a variety of experiments in learning. As part of the school’s ACE Village project, student Kathryn Cook shows off her group’s multiuse building while teammate Scott Brewer provides moral support. Meanwhile, other students learned the finer points of computer-assisted design programs in a lab class. Still other students tested the results of a class assignment to design paper airplanes able to meet more than a dozen criteria of engineering excellence.
