The building that houses the Ashland Police Department, at 1155 E. Main St., has numerous deficiencies for present and future operations. These limitations include poor public circulation, a cramped working environment, a lack of evidence storage space, a lack of meeting space and an inadequate temporary custody facility.

The Ashland Police Department is looking to relocate into an existing city-owned facility known as the Grove, at 1195 E. Main St. The agency wants to expand the space into a full-service police station.

Professional architects or architectural firms are requested to submit proposals to provide design services required to remodel the Grove building. Design services will include developing preliminary architectural plans, providing structural, mechanical, electrical, and seismic analysis of the building, providing specifications, providing detailed construction cost estimates needed for funding programs, and other work.

The contract is expected to be effective by May 3 and last approximately six months.
