The Fort Vancouver Regional Library District issued a request for proposals from qualified contractors to provide additional improvements to the exterior courtyard immediately adjacent to the children’s area of the Cascade Park Community Library.
The 24,000-square-foot facility opened to the public on Dec. 15, 2009. It was part of a $43 million bond measure for the construction of two new libraries in Vancouver, Wash.
Improvements to the courtyard include landscaping, surface stonework, boulders, dismantling and rebuilding an existing stone wall, and miscellaneous work as called for. Alternate work includes brick seat wall, wood bench with quote, stencil designs on boulders, form inserts in fence, installation of tree up-lights and transformer, and other work.
The library district has set aside $60,000 for the courtyard improvements. The project is scheduled to be completed by July 19.
