The cosmopolitan ambiance at the Oxford Hotel in Bend, Oregon, undermines neither the surrounding streetscape nor the environment, but offers instead an 鈥渆co-chic鈥� design that fits contextually with the historic feel of other structures in Bend.

The $12 million, seven-story, 59-room boutique hotel features a brick-and-stone exterior on its lower levels with a glass relief separating the east and west wings. The tallest building in Bend, the hotel also features a more contemporary feel on its upper three floors.

Sustainability was a major design goal for BLRB|GGL Architects鈥攖he mechanical system is among the most energy-efficient available; energy-recovery technology recoups 81 percent of its heat from existing stale air; and units feature dual-flush toilets, low-flow bath fixtures, 100 percent renewable energy, and electrolyzed water.

Formerly a municipal-owned site, this property has been redeveloped to offer visitors of central Oregon a unique, urbane experience.
