Heceta Head Lighthouse, off U.S. Route 101, 13 miles north of Florence, was built in 1893 and continues to operate today as a secondary navigational aid. The lighthouse has a brick and stone masonry tower and an attached workroom. It鈥檚 approximately 65 feet tall and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The first-order lantern is cast iron and bronze.

This project consists of restoration work for the historic lantern, masonry and stone tower; reconstruction of wood windows and doors; consolidation and upgrades of electrical systems; new lightning protection; new metal roofing; and other work.

The estimated project cost is from $1 million to $2 million, and all work is to be completed no later than July 31, 2012.
