Just when you thought the hot weather would mean a stop to rain-related sewage spills, Portland’s sewage found a way to creep up to the surface. Maybe the city is experimenting with HuManure?

Just last month, the Bureau of Environmental Services plastic pipes with metal ones in two sections of the Fanno Creek sewer that leaked in the past. Unfortunately, residents of Southwest Portland seem to have a obsessive compulsion to flush the toilet. The city released a Saturday alerting the public of a sewage leak along the Fanno Creek Trail near Southwest 86th Avenue – a sewer pressure line in the recently upgraded Garden Home section runs underneath the road.

Tests of water samples from the area tested positive for E-coli contamination. As by The Oregonian, the Fanno Creek sewer has been a problem for years, prompting the city to replace sections of the system.

The city’s contractor started excavating the site on Saturday to locate the exact location of the leak. The city has closed the Fanno Creek Trail between Southwest 86th and 82nd avenues.
