TriMet can be especially smug today. Yesterday, the public transit system of the metro region announced that it had more than 100 million riders in FY 2011. Can’t argue with results!

If you’re interested in learning of future聽developments聽in the Portland-metro area’s public transit system, you might want to check out the meeting this . The committee is made up of 聽specialists from a number of government institutions and a group of citizens appointed by the regional government Metro Council.

This Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the committee will discuss the following:

The Tigard High Capacity Transit (HCT) Land Use Plan

For those interested in transit-oriented development, Tigard senior transportation planner Judy Grath will update the聽committee聽on the聽progress聽of her city’s plan to factor in development along future transit lines in the Tigard area.

The committee will discuss how proposed amendments to (how the state manages state highway facilities) of the Transportation Planning Rule and Oregon Highway 聽Plan will potentially apply land-use planning in determining those聽policies.
