Idaho’s first major solar plant planned in Grand View

The first large solar plant in Idaho is planned to start supplying electricity in January.

Construction on the plant will begin soon on 180 aces in Grand View, east of Boise. New York-based Mark Scher is the developer.

The plant, owned by Grandview Solar PV I, would have a 10-megawatt capacity, . Power would be sold to IdaCorp Inc., a unit of Idaho Power Co.

Idaho Power provides electricity to about 52,000 customers in Eastern Oregon.

The plant will be “the largest solar project connected to Idaho Power’s system,” according to Idaho Power spokesman Brad Bowlin.
