  • Design advice is pending for a four-story, 19-unit apartment building with a walk-out basement level at 2124 N.W. Flanders St. The site currently contains a 119-year-old multifamily building that is a non-contributing structure in the Alphabet Historic District. The applicants are Brian Emerick and Anne Marie Kuban of Emerick Architects, and the owner is 2124 N.W. Flanders LLC, which is registered to Elliott and Katharine Gansner.
  • Design advice is pending for two proposed three-story affordable multifamily buildings at 2171 N.W. Glisan St. The project would focus on providing compact apartments for single mothers and their children. The site currently contains a triplex that is a non-contributing structure in the Alphabet Historic District. The applicant is David Horsley of Dao Architecture and the owner is 2167-2171 NW Glisan LLC, of which the sole member is Deborah Sposito.
  • Design advice is pending for a request to replace static displays on the front and rear marquees of the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall at 1037 S.W. Broadway with digital displays. The applicant is Gary Shepherd of Metro, and the owner is the city of Portland.
  • Early assistance is sought for improvements to Gabriel Park, at 3920 S.W. Vermont St. The project will include replacement of an existing play area with new equipment, pervious and impervious safety surfaces, decorative fencing, ADA improvements, plantings, stormwater management via swales and detention ponds, and parking and pathway improvements. The applicant is Gary Datka of Portland Parks & Recreation, and the owner is the city of Portland.
  • Early assistance is sought for the redevelopment of an industrial site at 3900 N.W. Yeon Ave. The nine-acre site currently contains a 75,000-square-foot warehouse building used by Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative. The applicant is Ken Sun of Fremont, California-based logistics real estate investment trust Prologis, and the owner is Container Recovery Inc.
  • Early assistance is sought to discuss land use actions anticipated at a church site at 5415 S.W. Powell Blvd. Part of the site would be redeveloped as Findley Commons, a 35-unit affordable housing development focusing on underserved veterans. The applicant is seeking further clarification, following an early assistance meeting, on project requirements based on site plan revisions and additional code research. The project would consist of 20 one-bedroom units and 15 single-room units. The applicant is Jerry Jones of Findley Commons LLC, and the owner is St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Portland.
  • A follow-up early assistance meeting is sought for a 62-unit apartment building on vacant property at the northeast corner of Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Hooker Street. The applicant is Francis Dardis of Ankrom Moisan Architects, and the owners are Michael and George Diamond (both principals with Real Estate Investment Group) and Catherine Lee Owen. A historic resource review was held for the project in 2017, and a pre-application conference was held in 2016. In 2013, Dardis sought early assistance for a 61-unit project at the site while working for Stack Architecture.
  • Early assistance is sought for the replacement of the clerestory roof on Turbine Hall at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry at 1945 S.E. Water Ave. The applicant is Clair Friskey of owner OMSI.
  • A pre-application conference is sought for a six-story, 77-unit building at 9652 N.E. Davis St. The building would have five stories of wood framing over a concrete podium and no parking. The applicant is Gordon Jones, and the owner is Davis Couch Holdings LLC, which is managed by Randall Borho.
  • A pre-application conference is pending for the modernization of the existing Benson Polytechnic High School building and site at 546 N.E. 12th Ave. In addition to the 7.33-acre campus, upgrades could potentially be made to a 1.5-acre parking lot one block southeast of the main campus. The applicants are Matthew Davis of Architectural Resources Group and Jen Sohm of owner Portland Public Schools.
  • A Type II design review is pending for a tenant improvement to two retail spaces for a restaurant tenant at The Carson at 2121 N.W. Raleigh St. The applicant is Julia Wood of Julia Wood Architect, and the owner is XPO Properties Inc.
  • A Type III design review with modifications is pending for a seven-story, 247-unit apartment building with ground-floor retail at 1120 S.E. Morrison St., a full-block property currently occupied by a 113-year-old warehouse building and a surface parking lot. The applicant is Kurt Schultz of SERA Architects and the owners are Campf Properties Ltd Partnership and AHC Holdings LLC; the project is being developed by Mill Creek Residential Trust.
  • A Type 1x lot consolidation is sought for a property at 5625 N.E. Glisan St. Existing buildings would be demolished and two lots confirmed into one parcel for a proposed apartment project. The applicant is Ed Bruin of Edge Development, and the owner is the David Lee Higgs Revocable Living Trust.
