Prominently located in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, Chloe on Madison is a 148,000-square-foot structure with 137 apartments and a three-story atrium with floor-to-ceiling windows that blur the lines between indoors and outside. The atrium space is filled with color and light by a suspended light sculpture created by local artist Ben Zamora.

Viewable from the atrium, garden mews transition to the nearby neighborhood. Glowing outdoor lighting mirrors the sculpture inside, a bike runnel lines the stairway, and a Bauhaus-inspired custom gate offers another artistic element.

Amenities include a rooftop deck, co-working spaces, communal kitchens, lounge areas, conference rooms and a fitness area. Each residential unit contains a well-crafted kitchen and Juliet balconies for access to fresh air and views of downtown Seattle, Mt. Rainier and the Olympic Mountains.

Certified LEED for Homes Platinum, Chloe on Madison exceeded the team’s goals for sustainable design. During construction, 88 percent of waste was diverted from landfills. Durable materials mean less trash will be generated in maintaining the building over time.

The green features of this brownfield redevelopment also include limited conventional turf usage in the landscaping, ample bike storage, electric vehicle charging stations, and high-efficiency plumbing, appliances, irrigation systems and heat pumps.
