Jon Dasler

Over the past 32 years, Jon Dasler has spearheaded the development of DEA Marine Services from one person in Portland to a team of more than 40 professionals in the Pacific Northwest, South Carolina, Mississippi and Texas.

An early adopter of new technologies, Dasler led several of the firm鈥檚 advances that include its implementation of shallow water, multibeam bathymetric survey. Along the way, he has imparted his experience and expertise to hydrographers, project managers and technical crews, as well as coaching client service leaders and training administrative and support staff on the maritime industry鈥檚 nuances.

As much as Jon is a born leader, he is also always pushing the envelope to create an engaging environment for his team to grow within and guiding the hydrographic surveying community toward a safer and more productive future.鈥�

With a commitment to increasing awareness and promoting hydrographic studies in educational settings, Dasler has cultivated relationships with a trio of universities that are the only schools in the nation to offer undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in hydrographic sciences.

With 46 years of experience working for federal clients, port authorities and the private sector, Dasler has received several national honors. He is frequently asked to present at conferences, provide technical review of guiding documents for the industry and serve on advisory boards. This includes being handpicked by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration to serve on a federal advisory committee.

Dasler is a founding member of The Hydrographic Society of America, a member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors and former chair of the American Council of Engineering Companies/USACE Portland District Liaison Committee.
