On Jan. 3, 2017, Iron Horse LLC opened its doors with a goal to penetrate the Portland cured in place pipe market. Iron Horse LLC began as a CCTV and vacuum truck company performing the occasional T-Liner installation. Carlie Moore, founder and managing member alongside her brother, saw a larger market need and had the drive and knowledge to take the company to the next level. She spent countless hours with her then team of seven, including brother Travis Moore, learning all about CIPP technology and how it could greatly improve pipe rehabilitation projects.
The technology allows pipe rehabilitation to take place without digging, causing less disturbance to the public, and projects can be completed in less than half the time and with less environmental impact.
Moore and her brother grew the company quickly and became a resource as they educated municipalities and engineering firms on the benefits of trenchless rehabilitation technology.
鈥淲hile we built our market, our crews worked as subcontractors for various City of Portland projects as well as other private work. This was a big jump from being an hourly CCTV and vacuum truck service provider, but our crew was up for the challenge,鈥 she said.
At that time, there were only a couple of mainline CIPP contractors in the area. The work Iron Horse was doing was dependent on following schedules of those few mainline CIPP contractors. Moore quickly saw an opportunity and built a UV mainline lining crew taking their business to the next level.
Iron Horse now employs 22 experts in the field. They have added lateral lining contracting, mainline UV CIPP installations and provide expert robotic cutting solutions. Today Iron Horse LLC is a Specialty General Contractor capable of completing multimillion-dollar projects using various methods of pipeline rehabilitation.
鈥淲e have expanded our reach throughout the Northwest and beyond, serving Oregon, Washington, California and Idaho. You鈥檒l find when a traditional CIPP method is not viable, our team is able to offer a multitude of options to adjust the scope of work to appropriately fit site conditions. Our qualified crew holds years of experience, partnering with owners and other general contractors to offer rehabilitation projects throughout the Northwest,鈥 Moore said.
Moore says her team feels more like a family. The management team has been with her since the beginning and as a group they all work together toward a common goal.
鈥淓very single person that works for Iron Horse contributes to our continued success. I鈥檓 looking forward to the future, and am proud of how far we have come,鈥 Moore said.
As it celebrates its fifth anniversary, Iron Horse has installed over 200,000 linear feet of mainline pipe liners ranging in size from 6 inches to 48 inches, 1,500 lateral connections and lined laterals up to 85 feet long. It thrives on jobs with access issues, challenging bypass scenarios, and coming up with ways to do projects that others have walked away from. They always find a solution and a way to get the job done effectively and efficiently. When you need the horsepower, Iron Horse LLC is your answer.
