Portland firm Shapiro Didway is rebranding as it celebrates 15 years in business.
Following co-founder Steve Shapiro鈥檚 retirement in 2019 and leadership team changes, the time was right to make an adjustment, according to co-founder and managing principal Blair Didway.
The landscape architecture, urban design and planning firm has established itself in seven markets: education, residential, environmental, recreation, commercial, health care and multifamily.
鈥淔or us, rebranding was more than just a logo change,鈥 Shapiro Didway principal and landscape architect Nate Otani stated. 鈥淚t was a shift in how we see our future as a firm.鈥
Shapiro Didway plans to continue to pursue multifamily and education work but also look for more community-driven projects. The firm recently worked on a large-scale, bilingual community outreach effort for Stoneridge Park in Tualatin. Now it鈥檚 serving as the landscape architect for Sabin CDC鈥檚 Charlotte Lewis and Isaka Shamsud-Din affordable housing developments in Northeast Portland.
鈥淎t the core of our new brand is humanity and a passion for the work we do, its impact on our community, environment, and the partnerships we grow,鈥 Otani stated. 鈥淥ur new brand is an expression of the values we hold and a representation of our commitment to creating meaningful work.鈥
The new logo features two abstract symbols as the initials 鈥楽鈥 and 鈥楧.鈥 The firm now uses the colors blue, dark forest green, orange-yellow and neutral tones to reflect more landscape elements like the sky, earth and plants.
Shapiro Didway worked with local agencies Studio DAD on the brand guidelines and Harlo Interactive on the website redesign.
