senior project manager at Klosh Group Inc.

Jessie Steiger
Jessie Steiger was a civil engineer for five years before volunteering with an ACE mentor group and learning about what project managers did. She hasn鈥檛 looked back and loves finding creative solutions to problems, building strong teams and being on jobsites.

Steiger led a community outreach program that was crucial for approval of the Manzanita City Hall project. By successfully navigating through challenging discussions and addressing citizens鈥 concerns, she and her team helped to gain the community鈥檚 trust.

鈥淭he fact that the Manzanita City Hall project is now on track for delivery after almost 30 years of discussion is a testament to the effectiveness of the community outreach process led by Jessie and the team,鈥 said Manzanita City Manager Leila Aman.

Steiger created 鈥淭he Women of R____ Klosh鈥 (W.O.R.K.), a forum that allows people to share their experiences and support each other. The focus on a monthly theme related to an R-word, such as 鈥淩esourceful鈥 or 鈥淩esilient,鈥 encourages attendees to reflect on and apply these qualities in their professional lives.

鈥淚鈥檝e found there鈥檚 something magical when you meet another woman on a project and you get that instant vibe that they won鈥檛 create any new hurdles for you. We may still disagree, have to hold each other accountable, and experience all of the up and downs that are part of a project, but there won鈥檛 be any additional stressors in that relationship.

鈥淚t鈥檚 like we can instantly trust each other because we inherently understand that we will succeed together. I started W.O.R.K. so I could foster that attitude and support internally. We鈥檙e unstoppable when we鈥檙e working together,鈥 she said.

As a volunteer for MESA, which teaches STEM skills to underrepresented middle and high school students, Steiger attended meetings every other week and helped high school kids with STEM-related projects.
