As a licensed architect with LEED certification, Amanda McCaffrey excels in her role as estimator for Lease Crutcher Lewis. In just two years at the company, she鈥檚 already shepherded major projects, including the $49.5 million Lane Community College ITEC (Industry and Trades Education Center) project, participating in interview teams, and winning project pursuits across higher education, civic, healthcare, tenant improvement, and multi-use projects. Her keen eye for detail and fluency in design and construction are instrumental in these accomplishments.

鈥淭he running joke at Lease Crutcher Lewis is that the best approach with Amanda is to give her ample runway to keep running because her drive is a tour de force,鈥� said Janice Westcott, Lewis vice president/marketing and communications. 鈥淗er reliability and adaptability continue to aid Lewis in aligning with its mission to build buildings that matter. Amanda leads by example. She is consistent both in her work and her word.鈥�

Outside of her professional efforts, McCaffrey is a co-chair of the grants subcommittee for the Lewis Foundation Advisory Committee, where she was integral in awarding $70,000 to local nonprofits. She also advocates and works closely with Girls Build, Portland YouthBuilders, Constructing Hope, Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center, and Oregon Tradeswomen. She also volunteers with Architects in School, working with fourth graders to teach them architectural concepts.

Her advice for young women that are up and coming in their careers is to first keep searching for a job that feels like a good fit.

鈥淭ake lateral moves in your career if there鈥檚 something that interests you,鈥� she said. 鈥淚nformational interviews are an amazing way to get your foot in the door for a real interview. They are also a way to get to know a handful of companies that may or may not be hiring right now, but that may present an opportunity in the future.鈥�
