Amanda Owings

business unit leader for transportation and infrastructure at Otak Inc.

Amanda Owings has worked in the architecture, engineering and construction industry for more than two decades. As a native Oregonian, she loves the beauty of the landscape, the people here, and has worked diligently on projects that create a stronger, more vibrant state.

Over the course of her 23-year career, she鈥檚 coordinated project teams and has focused on the areas of transportation, bike and pedestrian infrastructure, and ADA accessibility. She has worked on multiple award-winning projects during her time at Otak, including the APWA Excellence in Engineering Award for the Burnham Street Improvement project and Southwest Oleson Road project.

鈥淪he takes her role in leadership to heart and understands that building a quality team requires work and dedication beyond the day-to-day operations,鈥� noted co-worker Ashley Cantlon.

Owings loves to put her career expertise to use out in the local community, too. She has been involved with Zoom into Engineering with ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) and has volunteered at schools doing STEM activities with kids. She also has given her time with fellow Otak employees to clean stormwater facilities in the public right-of-way in Central Eastside near OMSI. Owings has mentored engineering interns, taught software classes, and led lunch-and-lean events regarding collaboration and project management. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors of Advantis Credit Union and is a University of Portland Industry Council member.
