Stacy Lewallen has always had an affinity for numbers so a career in accounting seemed like a natural fit. 鈥淚t鈥檚 also something every business needs, so there are a variety of roles, industries and opportunities to have a good career.鈥�

Lewallen, who recently joined Fortis Construction as controller, has more than 25 years of experience in providing leadership for strategic financial management and implementation of accounting infrastructure and business applications.

She said the best part of her job is working with teams and building relationships with people who do different jobs than hers to meet a common goal. She also appreciates opportunities to mentor others.

鈥淚 think it is important that we give back. People who came before us helped us, and I think it鈥檚 important that we do the same,鈥� she said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 rewarding to see people succeed, reach their goals and help support them in that. It鈥檚 just a really feel-good piece to be involved in someone鈥檚 growth.鈥�

Fortis鈥� Bryce Yamamoto met Lewallen 20 years ago and admires the strong teams she has grown throughout her career. 鈥淪he has an ability to connect with people which shows in her ability to mentor, guide and uplift others,鈥� he said.

Lewallen is a founding member and designer of the Associated General Contractors鈥� Workforce Educator Externship and Workforce Coalition. She and her team started this program within the Oregon-Columbia AGC chapter in partnership with Willamette ESD. It has since spread to multiple organizations nationwide, introducing the construction industry to the next generation of builders.

An active Construction Financial Management Association member, Lewallen served as the Portland chapter president in 2012 and is the Emerging Issues Committee Chair (2013-present). In 2017 and again in 2022, she was recognized as the Portland Chapter General Member of the Year.
