BRIC Architecture Inc., a community-focused architecture firm specializing in educational spaces, was founded in 2017 by principals Amy Friendy and Karina Ruiz. The firm has grown to more than 60 employees across the Pacific Northwest, with women representing 57 percent ownership and holding leadership positions at every organizational level.

The firm’s founding principals established BRIC with a commitment to creating safe, equitable and sustainable educational environments. Under their leadership, BRIC has more than doubled in size while maintaining its original mission. Principal Tonie Esteban joined the leadership team as the firm expanded its regional presence.

BRIC has achieved recognition as a two-time 91ÊÓƵ Oregon Building Diversity winner and earned JUST certification for its workplace practices. Women lead across multiple roles, from principals and architects to project managers, planners and administrators. BRIC’s leadership includes 50 percent minority representation among its principals, reflecting the firm’s commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices in architecture.
