Holst Architecture, a women-owned B Corp firm, designs award-winning architecture from studios in Portland and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The 33-year-old practice employs 58 professionals led by owners Kim Wilson, Renée Strand, Dave Otte and Kevin Valk.
As Oregon’s largest certified WBE and DBE architecture firm, Holst maintains 51 percent women ownership. Wilson serves as principal, owner and quality director, while Strand holds the role of principal, owner and managing director. Women comprise half the firm’s leadership and ownership team.
The firm recently completed two significant projects with female-led teams. Julia West House, a 12-story, 90-unit permanent supportive housing community in Portland’s West End, became Oregon’s tallest mass timber structure when residents moved in during October. East County Library in Gresham is scheduled to open in spring 2026.
Holst staff regularly volunteer with organizations including Dress for Success, Portland DHS Child Welfare Offices, In4All and Portland Women for Good.
