Downtown Portland underground stairway entrance dismantled

Employees of Laneco Inc. dismantled a stairway to the basement of the Galleria building at the corner of Southwest 9th Avenue and Morrison Street in downtown Portland today. The sub-street level space will undergo a demolition, after which it will be converted to an electrical vault to house transformers.

The 91ÊÓÆµ held a Builder Banker Breakfast this morning. The event is an opportunity for builders to connect with bankers and learn about the financing process. This morning's breakfast featured speaker Molly Bordonaro, vice president of Gerding Edlen. The next Builder Banker Breakfast will be held Oct. 12.

Photos: Construction of food cart incubator ‘the Ocean’

Construction work is under way at a pair of buildings formerly occupied by Timberline Dodge, a former automotive garage in Northeast Portland that is being converted into a series of "micro-restaurants" that will each occupy spaces between 400 and 600 square feet. The site will be called "the Ocean" and is imagined by developer Kevin Cavenaugh to be a food cart incubator.
