Ladd Carriage House still for sale

The Ladd Carriage House, at 1331 S.W. Broadway, was built in 1883 as a stable for William Sargent Ladd's larger estate. It was rehabbed recently and has been available for purchase for more than two years. The asking price is $1.5 million.

Crystal Hotel promises wild nights for West End

Brewpub and historic preservation company McMenamins will this year complete its newest project, the Crystal Hotel in Portland's West End. Architects tried to preserve the history of the hotel, which in the past 100 years has been an automotive parts store, a bathhouse and a nighttime hotspot.

When work wraps up this spring, the McMenamins Crystal Hotel, a four-story, triangular building at the corner of Southwest Stark Street and 12th Avenue, will have 51 rooms on the upper floors, a restaurant on the ground level and a spa and bar in the basement.
