Electric vehicle-related companies can look to benefit from $1.2 million awarded to Drive Oregon, a nonprofit seeking to push commercialization of electric vehicles in the clean tech, advanced manufacturing and software industries. The Oregon Innovation Council announced the funding on Thursday, and it will become available by the end of this year.

Bill would create road use tax structure for electric cars

Rep. Terry Beyer, D-Springfield, plans to introduce a bill, HB 2328, later in the present legislative session that would remedy that situation. It would institute a vehicle road-use charge - basically a mileage tax - for electric cars and electric hybrids, starting in January 2014.
