Just hours before it was set to expire, the U.S. Senate approved a bill to extend the time homebuyers have to close on a home and still get the homebuyer tax credit. Now homebuyers who signed a letter of intent to purchase before the April 30 have until Sept. 30 to close on the home purchase. The original deadline would have been June 30.
