Rich Hotel renovation team strikes compromise with city, avoids full seismic upgrade
The Rich Hotel building, constructed in 1905 in Portland's Old Town, was recently purchased by Innovative Housing, Inc., an affordable housing developer that plans on converting the former hotel rooms to efficiency studio apartments. The the developer is working trying to make a plan that won't trigger a code-mandated seismic upgrade.
