Chaucer Court Apartments being renovated
Renovation work is beginning on the Chaucer Court Apartments in downtown Portland. The 84-unit senior housing residence is in the Odd Fellows Building, a structure built in 1924 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Portland apartment complex sells for $8M
A 96-unit apartment complex in Southwest Portland has sold for $8.1 million. The Markana, a 96,578-square-foot building at 8585 S.W. Canyon Lane, sold to the Portland Canyon Investors partnership of Seattle.
Portland multifamily projects in the works
In 2010, apartment building permits were drawn for only 730 units through November, but Portland now has the nation's second lowest multifamily vacancy rate and building permits are forecast to double next year.
Dog-focused apartments near ready in Southeast Portland
DAWG Terrace is a remodeled, dog-friendly apartment building in Southeast Portland. The two-story building in Southeast Portland features a new exterior skin, steel-framed concrete walkways, new interior finishes, a solar panel array on the roof and a number of fire hydrants.
Commercial real estate predicted to improve
The National Association of Realtors expects commercial real estate to stabilize across the country in 2011, and even make some improvements.
Generation Y driving Portland multifamily
Portland-area developers are recognizing potential for multifamily projects in North Portland. Young people, usually renters, continue to migrate to the Portland area and tend to prefer apartment living.
Survey shows interest in multifamily investment
In a survey conducted by the local multifamily investment real estate firm HFO, the company found that 24 percent of respondents would consider buying an apartment complex in the next six months. Additionally, 46 percent said they would consider purchasing in that time frame if the right deal arose.
The Plymouth
The Plymouth, at 1230 N.W. 21st Ave., is one of the ubiquitous, turn-of-the-century apartment complexes in the area. But it's the only one that is for sale, and it isn't lacking its own, unique charm.
Clackamas apartment complex sells for $17M
A San Francisco-based real estate investment firm has closed on the purchase of the 220-unit Twin Creeks Apartment complex on Sunnyside Road in Clackamas. The firm purchased the complex for $17 million from Twin Creeks Apartments LLC, the Portland firm that developed the apartments in 1996 and has operated it ever since.
Renovation set for The Dalles apartments
Beaverton-based LMC Construction is preparing to begin a renovation and addition project at the Sunrise Estates Apartments in The Dalles.
NW Portland apartments to begin construction
Portland-based Pavilion Construction is set to begin work in September on a new six-story, 90-unit apartment complex at the old Dove Lewis Animal Hospital building on the corner of Northwest 20th Avenue and Pettygrove Street.
Southeast Portland apartments sell for $1.7M
San Francisco-based real estate investment firm Playa Properties has purchased a 17-unit apartment complex at 600-610 S.E. Cesar Chavez Blvd. The complex sold for $1.7 million.
