The United Clothing Building, at 219-233 W. Burnside St., was named for the blue-collar clothing business that operated there and was an anchor in an area brimming with activity in the 1920s and ’30s. The 4,124-square-foot building is for sale at a starting price of $699,000, though the owner is in talks with a prospective buyer.

LRS Architects designs West Hotel, former Satyricon space

Designed by LRS Architects, the 30,754-square-foot structure will provide affordable housing in 42 studio apartments for individuals making 60 percent of median family income or less. The ground floor will accommodate an expansion for the Macdonald Center, a local nonprofit that has offices next door, at 605 N.W. Couch St.

Couch Building for sale

The Couch Building, at 27-33 N.W. Second Ave. in Portland's Old Town neighborhood, was the home of one of Pishue's first restaurants, the Jazz de Opus. Pishue sold the building to Portland developer John Beardsley, who later went bankrupt and defaulted on his loan. Pishue got the building back with a decreased value and a new tenant: a strip club.
