Six real estate students at Portland State University were charged with identifying the highest and best use for a 16-acre plot of land The Standard owns in Hillsboro. The students' proposal included an entertainment destination anchored by a large movie theater and sports bar arcade, with housing, a hotel, commercial retail and restaurant space.

Developers cry foul at fee for new light-rail line, other projects

Despite concerns from property and business owners who say the fee will stop any new development dead in its tracks, the city has decided it will hold a final vote on the fee next week.

Bentley Construction is converting a space in Portland State University's University Plaza into a Ben & Jerry's Partnershop, which will serve to benefit local nonprofit New Avenues for Youth.
