Inspector cuts worry contractors
The phones ring more often at Portland’s Bureau of Development Services now that the city has announced plans to lay off half of the agency’s 300 employees. Contractors are worried about how many inspectors will be eliminated, and what their reduced numbers will mean for builders looking to maintain schedules and budgets.
