University of Portland names head of engineering school
Sharon A. Jones has served as a tenured faculty member at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and as the director of the engineering division at Lafayette College. In July, she'll settle into a new role in a new city as dean of the Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering at the University of Portland. She will replace Zia Yamayee, who has been the school's dean for the past 15 years.

The University of Portland soccer teams will have new grass to play on after a crew from Bernhardt Golf finishes its work. Merlo Field, on the university’s campus, is getting 86,000 square feet of new perennial rye grass.
