SMART Project Includes Constructing Foundation for Art Work

The Wilsonville SMART (South Metro Area Regional Transit) Authority is soliciting a Request for Qualifications from quailfied firms for improvements to the Transit Center site. Work includes the of an approximately 868 s.f. break room building for SMART drivers with a kitchenette, a mechanical room, two internally accessed ADA restrooms for drivers, two externally accessed ADA restrooms for the public, and moderate landscaping. The project will also include the construction of a foundation and conduit for a separately procured piece of art work to be installed adjacent to the building. The estimated cost of the project is $395,000 – $445,000 and is funded by federal stimulus funds ARRA (American Recovery & Reinvestment Act). The project is scheduled to be completed by April 30, 2010.

The SMART system currently has a total of more than 35 vehicles in its fleet including buses, vans, and a bus dressed up to look like a historic trolley. The system serves 3 major routes in and around the Wilsonville area including connections to Trimet and the WES Commuter Rail.
