Scheduled for tonight’s City Council Meeting for the City Astoria is the “Rejection of Bids” for the 37th Street and Leif Erikson Drive Pedestrian Improvements project that bid on July 27th. The City considered the bids but was advised by legal council to reject all of them because they were “not in the best interest of the City”.

The bidding companies were (in no particular order) Civilworks NW, Big River, and KSH .

The reasons for the rejection of the bids were “Mobilization values exceeding 5% submitted by the 1st low bidder on both Schedule A and Schedule B” and “A substantial cost discrepancy between the 1st low bidder and the 2nd low bidder exceeded the engineers estimate.”

If the project is re-bid, the Call for Bids will be issued again and will be emailed as Addenda #1 to everyone listed on the currentplanholder’s list.
