A project that began in 2006 to expand and renovate the Salem Hospital campus in Salem is nearly finished.
Work included construction of a new Central Energy Plant and a seven-story, 120-bed patient tower, as well as renovations of the family birthing center, cath laboratory, cafeteria, psychiatric-crisis unit and community health education center.
The tower also houses new emergency-care space, 12 operating rooms, intensive-care units and a rapid-response lab.
Turner Construction is the general contractor, and HKS Inc. is the architect for the project.
