Construction on the Elizabeth Caruthers Park in Portland’s South Waterfront District is almost completed, and a grand opening is scheduled for spring 2010. The park was named for an early pioneer settler who purchased land in the area in 1850.
The new 2.14-acre park features an open lawn area for performances, an urban garden, boardwalks, a water feature, bike racks, public art and streetscape improvements. There is also a naturalized landscape with a storm water retention system.
Nutter Corp. is the general contractor and Teufel Nursery & Landscape is the landscape company on the project for Portland Parks and Recreation and the Portland Development Commission.
