Speedometer Building overhaul drives forward

Built in 1925, the Speedometer Building in Portland’s Pearl District is getting a complete make over.
The one-story structure at 528 N.W. 11th Ave. has two 2,500-square-foot retail spaces with partial basements. One of the spaces is rented already to Greenlight Bikes, a seller and distributor of German-made Kalkhoff bicycles.
The general contractor on the renovation is SKL Construction, and the designer is Merrill Architects.
