A former warehouse and office building in Southeast Portland has undergone an extensive renovation to become the new headquarters for general contractor Hammer & Hand. The two-story building at 1020 S.E. Harrison St. has a number of green features, such as daylighting with clerestory windows and solar tubes. Reclaimed and salvaged wood from previous jobs was used in the construction. Also, parts of the doors are made from salvaged car windows, and other construction materials came from local sources. The work on the renovation was done mostly by Hammer & Hand’s craftsmen from a design by Scott Edwards Architecture.
