The Bridge Meadows foster care community project at 4221 N. Willis Boulevard in North Portland is a planned, intergenerational community. Foster care youth are supported in adoptive, permanent homes where families raise them and senior citizens serve as surrogate grandparents. The project includes construction of homes for families, apartments for seniors, a community center, gardens, a play area and a courtyard. General contractor Walsh Construction Co. is building the project from a design by Carleton Hart Architecture. Completion is scheduled for spring 2011.
